Join us for a lively conversation with Dr. Erica Armstrong Dunbar, acclaimed historian, professor of African American studies at Emory University, and co-executive producer of HBO's The Gilded Age , as she explores what one of television's most celebrated period dramas can teach us about American history. In conversation with Tiffany Griffith, Dr. Dunbar will examine the show's portrait of race, wealth, power, and social transformation in late nineteenth-century America and connect those themes to the questions at the heart of America 250 — our nation's upcoming semiquincentennial. Who gets to tell America's story? Whose lives and struggles are centered, and whose have been left out? What does the Gilded Age have to say to us right now?
